Mysuru: Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, Director Jitendra J. Jadhav, on Monday, said that the State Government has requested for 40 ragi ball making machines to be installed in Indira Canteens in Bengaluru.
In a press conference at CFTRI here, he said, CFTRI has installed two ragi ball making machines, which have a capacity to produce 250 balls in one hour.
Now, the Government has asked for bigger machines, which have the capacity to produce 2,000 ragi balls, he said.
The Director said, the institute has advised the Government to utilise CFTRI’s technologies such as idli and dosa-makers.
Maharashtra and Telangana Governments have sought assistance for development of Food Processing Centres.
CFTRI has entered into an agreement with Maharashtra Government and it has asked to establish the centres in 13 districts.
“Initially, we will set up the centres in five districts. Even Telangana Government has come forward to utilise CFTRI technology,” he added.
