Miscreants make away with part of 50-gram gold chain

Mysore/Mysuru: Chain-snatchers have made away with a part of a 50-gram gold chain of a woman, who had been to purchase milk in J.C. Nagar near the foot of Chamundi Hill here this morning.

The woman, who lost about 12 grams of the 50-gram chain, is 58-year-old Bharathi, a resident of 7th Main in J.C. Nagar. The incident took place at about 7.35 am today.

Bharathi, who left her house at about 7.15 am for her morning walk, went to purchase milk from a shop located on the 8th Main.

It is learnt that two youths on a bike kept following her and later one of them got down from the bike, followed Bharathi for a distance and tried to snatch the gold chain. As Bharathi held on to the chain, the chain broke and the miscreant was able to snatch about 12 grams of the gold chain. He then hopped on the waiting bike and sped away.

Nazarbad Sub-Inspector Srinivas Patil and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, collected information from Bharathi and has registered a case. As there were no CCTV cameras installed at the incident spot, the Police are collecting footages of CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity to trace the bike on which the miscreants sped away.
