Mysuru: Vidyaranyapuram Police, have arrested a chain snatcher yesterday in city and recovered the stolen gold ornaments worth Rs.19,000 from him.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Mohammed Samiulla, son of Abdul Rahim, and a resident of Nachanahalli Palya on Manandavadi Road in city.
Police caught him red handed when he was attempting to sell the stolen gold ornaments near Kavitha Bakery in JP Nagar during their routine patrolling.
During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed that he along with his accomplice Zabiulla had relieved a gold chain weighing 15 grams from one Nagarathna when she was walking on the road near Mahadevapura in Vidyaranyapuram ‘C’ Block on May.2.
The duo had shared the snatched gold ornaments after this incident. Mohammed Samiulla got his share of seven grams and Zabiulla kept the remaining 8 grams with him.
The Police have launched the hunt to nab Zabiulla, who has gone absconding after committing the crime.
Vidyaranyapuram Inspector M.N. Ravishankar, ASI Shanthakumar and staff Maheshwar, Nataraj, K.T. Manjunath, and B.K Govindaraju carried out the nabbing and recovery operation under the supervision of DCP (Law and Order) Mutthuraj and Krishnaraja Sub-Division ACP Gopalakrishna. G.Naik.
