Chamarajanagar: Congress’ Sunil Bose inching towards victory

Bose had polled 2,94,137 votes against Balaraj who got 2,33,944 votes.

Chamarajanagar: In a keenly fought LS elections from Chamarajanagar (SC Reserved) Constituency, Congress candidate Sunil Bose is most likely to win by a big margin against his nearest rival BJP’s S. Balaraj.

With the official announcement of the results awaited, according to the details of votes polled, uploaded in the website of Election Commission of India (ECI), Bose had polled 2,94,137 votes against Balaraj who had got 2,33,944 votes, with the margin being 60,193 votes, at the time of going  to press.

It was also the debut elections for Bose, son of Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Social Welfare Minister and Mysuru District In-charge Minister.

While Balaraj was once an independent MLA from Yalandur Assembly Constituency, which was later merged with Kollegal (SC Reserved) Constituency, after delimitation.

Following the victory of Sunil Bose, Congress party will succeed in wresting back its lost bastion from BJP.

Former Union Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, who passed away recently, had contested the 2019 Lok  Sabha elections from Chamarajanagar Constituency on BJP ticket and had defeated sitting Congress MP R. Dhruvanarayan, who is also no more.
