As part of ‘Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava,’ the monthly cultural series to promote Indian art and culture under the aegis of Champaka Educational and Cultural Trust, the ‘Jyeshtha’ edition will be held on Saturday (July 6) at 4.30 pm at the Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar. The evening will start with a solo Bharatanatyam performance by Shreya Kashyap, daughter and disciple of Vidushi Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy. Shreya started learning Bharatanatyam when she was 3-years-old and learnt for many years under Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy. Later she continued her tutelage under her mother.
After the first presentation, disciples of Vidushi Sunitha Sukumaran, Founder and Director of Sri Krishna Kalaalaya, Bengaluru, will be presenting a Bharatanatyam performance followed by another Bharatanatyam feature by the disciples of Guru Vidwan R. Kannan, Director of Nandini Nirthyalaya, one of the oldest and prestigious dance institutions in Mysuru. Prof. M.S.K. Narahari Babu, Founder-Principal and Secretary of Sadvidya Educational Institutions, Mysuru, will be the chief guest.
