Mysore/Mysuru: Members of Kuduma Srikshetra Dharmasthala Padayatra Seva Trust took up a special drive this morning to clean the steps of Chamundi Hill, after four Ashada Fridays, during which thousands of devotees thronged the Hill shrine to have a darshan of presiding deity Goddess Chamundeshwari.
The drive was inaugurated by senior advocate O. Sham Bhat, following which the Trust members began sweeping from the foot of the hill to the top covering 1,001 steps. The cleaning took place amidst the good turnout of devotees on the auspicious ‘Bheemana Amavasya’ day. The steps had been smeared with arishina, kumkuma and other puja articles, during the Ashada Fridays.
Apart from Mysuru, the Trust members who came from Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts routinely undertake a padayatra to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district every year. Before embarking on padayatra this year, they cleaned the steps of the Hill.
