Chamundi Hill steps cleanliness drive held

Mysuru: Sir M. Visveswaraya Plumbing and Underground Drainage (UGD) Workers’ Welfare Association conducted a drive to clean 1,001 steps at Chamundi foothill, as part of Ashada Month Puja Mahotsav yesterday.

C. Narayanagowda, President of Mysuru District Hotel Owners Association, inaugurated the drive in the presence of Krishnaraja Cooperative Bank President Basavaraj (Basappa), Sir M. Visveswaraya Plumbing and Underground Drainage (UGD) Workers’ Welfare Association President S. Mahesh and others.

Narayangowda said, there has been a increase in number of devotees visiting Chamundi Hill through the steps, to take part in special puja mahotsav. Ashada Month holds a special reverence in our culture. It is laudable on the part of the organisers to clean the steps.

Later over 50 people took part in cleaning the 1,001 steps from the foothill to the temple at the hill top. Sangha Vice-President M.S. Suresh Kumar, office-bearers M. Ravikumar, Palani, Chandregowda, Rudraswamy, Mohammed Zakir Hussain, Hebbal Yogesh and others were present.
