The famed Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill has recorded a Hundi collection of Rs.1.78 crore in the 49-day period from Sept.23 till Nov.10. The counting of temple Hundis (offerings box) was taken up yesterday, during which Rs.1,74,85,623 in currency notes and coins amounting to Rs.3,09,862, together amounting to Rs.1,77,95,485 was found. With the steady rise in the number of devotees post lockdown, the revenues of the temple too is increasing as it is getting good earnings through special darshan, distribution of laddu prasada etc. The Hundi collection at the Hill temple is Rs.95,78,731 higher this year as compared to last year during the same period. The Hundis are counted once in a month or one – and-a-half-months, according to a press release
