Chamarajanagar: Chamarajanagar Rural Police have arrested five persons, who had allegedly sought the assistance of SDJ Gold Company to release their pledged gold and to be subsequently purchased by the company but instead robbed two employees of the company of Rs.1.2 lakh.
The arrested accused are 30-year-old Satish Rao of Bengaluru, 30-year-old Madhukumar, 22-year-old Sundaresh and 19-year-old Mahadeva of Mysuru and 23-year-old R. Mahadeva of Hunsur taluk.
Cash of Rs.1.2 lakh, a vanity bag, two motorcycles and a scooter have been recovered by the Police.
The five accused were said to have telephoned the aforementioned company employees Prema and Niranjan on Mar.8 and convinced them to get the pledged gold released in Chamarajanagar. When the two employees arrived in Chamarajanagar, the accused reportedly took them to a deserted place and robbed them of cash and fled.
Based on a complaint lodged by Prema, the Police had registered a case. The accused were arrested in Mysuru on Thursday and during interrogation, it was learnt that the accused had committed a robbery near Ramanagaram two months ago.
One of the arrested persons, Satish Rao, is also said be an accused in a murder case coming under Jnanabharati Police Station limits in Bengaluru.
Staff Ningaraju, Chinnaswamy, Jagadish, Ramesh, Babu, Kishore and Chamarajanagar Rural Police Station’s Jayaram, ASI Mahadevaswamy, staff Pradeep, Mahadevaswamy, Jagadish and Raju took part in the nabbing and recovery operations.
