Mysuru: Checking air pollution is a year-round process and hence awareness must be created among vehicle users about complying with emission norms throughout the year, said Joint Regional Transport Commissioner Dr. C.T. Murthy.
He was speaking during the valedictory function of the “Air Pollution Control Awareness Month” and Kannada Rajyotsava celebration organised by the West and East Transport Office staff at the Regional Transport Office, here on Wednesday. He said that during the month of November there was checking of government and private vehicles and an awareness created among the public.
According to Dr. Murthy, checking air pollution in vehicles should not be restricted to a particular month but it should be year-round affair. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and Traffic Police will jointly undertake the drive of creating awareness among the public and action will be taken against those violating the emission norms, he warned.
Chief Administrative Officer of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam D. Ravikumar, Deputy Transport Commissioner Anwar Pasha, Traffic Police Inspector Manjunath, RTO R. Prabhuswamy, Environmental Officer Rubaiya and others were present.
