St. Philomena’s FGC ended their semi-final league with a goalless draw against MICA, Mysuru and with 5 points from three games (2 wins & 1 draw) lifted the prestigious Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament conducted by the Dept. of Physical Education and Physical Education Teachers Academy Trust at the University Football Ground here yesterday.
MICA, Mysuru with 3 points (1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss) secured the runner-up spot, while De Paul FGC (2 points) and Kautilya FGC (2 points) finished third and fourth respectively. In the other semi-final league match, MICA, Mysore beat Kautilya FGC 3-0. A brace by right-out Rakesh (24th & 38th) and a goal by centre-forward Sridhar (14th) helped MICA to register a good win.
The prizes to the winners were given away by Retired Physical Education Teacher M. Shivalingegowda, Physical Education Teachers Academy Trust President Dr. C. Krishna, Sadashiva Bhat, Department of PE In-charge Director Dr. P. Krishniah and Tournament Convenor Dr. Krishnakumar were present.
Final Placing: 1. St. Philomena’s FGC (5 points), 2. MICA, Mysuru (3 points), 3. De Paul FGC (2 points, 4. Kautilya FGC (2 points).
