Child labourers rescued

Mysuru: In a joint operation, the officials and personnel of the Labour Department, Child Helpline, Special Children Police Unit and the City Crime Branch (CCB), acting on a tip off, that children from various localities were working as child labourers, raided a vessel manufacturing unit in Mandi Mohalla and rescued eight children who were found working in the unit.

It is learnt that these children from Shanthinagar, Ghousianagar and other localities in city were made to work for less wages and based on the information, the raid was conducted and the children rescued.

The rescued children are housed in Boys Balamandir in Vijayanagar here and a case has been registered at Mandi Police Station in this regard.
