Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, will be bringing musical performances by children and youngsters on the occasion of Children’s Day, on its facebook page and YouTube channel on Saturday (Nov. 14) in two parts — from 10.30 am to 11.30 am and 5 pm to 7 pm. The three-hour programme includes vocal and instrumental music by 43 young disciples of various music teachers both in Karnatak and Hindustani styles.
Dikshitar’s Day: Saint Composer Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar (1775 – 1835) is one of the musical trinity of Karnatak classical music. He has the credit of composing 450 to 500 compositions, brilliantly crafted unveiling the complete beauty of each raga. They are considered as gems studded with musical, literary and philosophical aspects and are highly held by musicologists and widely sung by musicians. He has also composed some songs on western folk tunes. Ashwayuja Amavasya day during Deepavali was the day he left for heavenly abode.
On this occasion, Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha will be premiering Navagraha kritis composed by him in praise of the nine planets, rendered by nine young musicians on its Facebook page and YouTube channels on Sunday (Nov. 15) at 10.30 am.
Music-lovers are requested to watch both the programmes by visiting Sabha’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, both at Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust and support the children and young artistes, according to a press release from Vid. H. K. Narasimhamurthy, Hon. Secretary [Ph: 0821-2512422].
