‘Nudi Namana’ offered to late scholar
Mysuru: “Chittani Ramachandra Hegde was a complete Yakshagana artiste as he had all the needed qualities of such an artiste,” opined Dr. Bellipadi Satish Rai, President, Bellipadi Yaksha Samskruthika Trust.
He was speaking at an event titled ‘Nudi Namana’ organised jointly by Karavali Yakshagana Kendra, Bellipadi Yaksha Samskruthika Trust and Innovative, Mysuru, at Vijaya Vittala College auditorium in Saraswathipuram here last evening to pay tribute to well-known Yakshagana artiste and Padmashree awardee Chittani Ramachandra Hegde who passed away recently.
Dr. Satish Rai said that a good Yakshagana artiste should have a thorough knowledge of costumes, make-up, body language, dialogue delivery and dance. Ramachandra Hegde as an epitome of all those factors, to be hailed as a complete artiste.
He observed that a person usually becomes egoistic after reaching the pinnacle of success in career. However, he said that Chittani was an exception who was down to earth with humility par excellence, discussing on Yakshagana with co-artistes. He recalled that he wanted to organise a Badagu and Thenkuthittu Yakshotsava in city involving Chittani but regretted that Yakshagana had lost Chittani before the proposed event.

Hegde, Music University Registrar Dr. Niranjana, Theatre Artiste Rajashekar Kadamba, Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vid. Heramba R. Bhat and Jagadish K. Hebbar spoke on the occasion.
