Christmas celebrated at Mysuru Central Prison

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City unit of the Prison Ministry of India (PMI) had organised Christmas celebration in Mysuru Central Prison in city on Dec. 18.

Bishop of Mysuru Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ was the chief guest. Dr. Michael Noronha, Coordinator of Karnataka PMI, Prof. Jose Mathew and Joseph Johnson were the guests of honour.

The Bishop spoke on the significance of Christmas and called upon everyone to embrace the values of love, forgiveness and compassion especially in a place where hope is tested.

Cultural programmes were presented by the novices of St. Annes Luzienne, Jyothi Nilaya School children and carols were presented by Capuchin brothers.

The Syro Malabar Carmel Catholic Association distributed 800 pairs of footwear to all the prison inmates.

Presiding over the event, Mysuru Prison Chief Superintendent Seshumurthy appreciated PMI for their good work in the prison and recalled his school days at St. Francis of Assisi School in Kollegal.

He called upon the gathering to practice the teachings of Love which Jesus Christ symbolised and added that every religion gives the important message of Peace and Love.

Sr. Nakshatra proposed the vote of thanks while Bro. Dolphy compered the programme.

Ashe Khan, Superintendent, Mohan Kumar, Assistant Superintendent, Dharnesh, Jailor, Khundarnad, Executive Jailor and others were present.
