Buoyed by the success of its modern public toilet facility atop Chamundi Hill, the Mysuru Chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has come forward to rejuvenate four lakes in Mysuru at a cost of Rs. 90 lakh. The rejuvenation will be taken up under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
At a meeting on CSR activities that was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office recently, DC D. Randeep gave his approval for rejuvenation. Funds for the project will be provided by Automotive Axles, JK Tyres and Rane Group (Madras). Under the project, Devikere atop Chamundi Hill, Thavarekere near the Ring Road, Thippaiahanakatte and Kempammanakatte Lakes will be given a new lease of life.
The DC suggested to the CII representatives that rejuvenation of Kempammanakatte Lake must be taken up first. CII Chairman Arjun Ranga and past Chairman N. Muthukumar told the DC that the rejuvenation works have been handed over to CII MYCAPS and works will begin in three to four days. A survey of the lakes and their boundary identification will be done by Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu and a report will be submitted, the DC informed.
The CII representatives urged the DC to take steps to supply water to the toilets atop Chamundi Hill and dig a borewell for the purpose. It was also decided at the meeting that a separate toilet on the lines of the Chamundi Hill toilet will be constructed by the CII and Automotive Axles at the Mysore Palace premises at a cost of Rs. 1.3 crore. The project to renovate Anjaneyaswamy Temple within the Dasara Exhibition premises that has been handed over to TVS Motors under CSR should begin soon, the DC said.
District Industries Centre Joint Director H. Ramakrishnegowda and representatives from AT&S, Bacardi Marketing India, Bannari Amman Sugars, J.K. Tyres, BEML, Chamundi Textiles, Jubilant Organosys, Nestle India and other corporate firms participated.
