New Delhi: The cinema halls will likely open across the country from Oct. 1. To this end, the All India Cine Industry leaders held talks with the Union Home Secretary and Information Secretary yesterday.
Representatives of the film industry have sought permission to open theatres in the wake of permission being given for trains, metro services and flights to operate. Sources said that the Centre is preparing guidelines on the opening of cinema theatres.
Sources say that even if theatres reopen, big-budget films will not immediately hit the screens and the producers are planning to wait for a month to gauge the trend. The film industry is among the worst hit by Coronavirus. Movie theatres have been closed for more than five months due to a Government-imposed lockdown to curb the virus spread.
