Circles to be illuminated: Portraits of Jnanpith awardees to welcome literary buffs

Preparations are in full swing at Maharaja's College Grounds as it gears itself up for the three-day 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.

Mysuru:  In the context of the 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in city from Nov.24 to 26, Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep has given instructions to illuminate prominent circles in city.

Accordingly, the Illumination Sub-Committee Chairman and CESC Superintending Engineer Narasimhegowda has said that K.R. Circle, Chamaraja Circle, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle (Hardinge Circle), Ramaswamy Circle, Ekalavya Circle and roads linking to Zilla Panchayat and Hunsur Road, City Railway Station to Ramaswamy Circle and further to Jayachamaraja Wadiyar  Circle up to Sub-Urban Bus Stand would be illuminated at scheduled timings from Nov. 23 to 27.

The portraits of Jnanpith awardees and that of  83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana President Prof. Chandrashekar Patil (Champa) would be displayed at prominent Circles and roads in city to invite literary buffs.

The portraits Jnanpith awardees to come up are Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, Da.Ra. Bendre, Dr. Shivaram Karanth, Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, V.K. Gokak, Dr. U.R. Ananthamurthy, Dr. Girish Karnard and Dr. Chandrashekar Kambara.
