Mysuru: Activists of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest in the city recently condemning the inhuman US sanctions against Cuba. Members of CITU assembled near old Deputy Commissioner’s office and shouted slogans against United States of America(USA).
“Capitalist America has imposed inhuman sanction against socialist Cuba. Talks are on in this connection at United Nations (UN). Even though UN Council had asked US to lift economic, commercial and financial sanctions it imposed on Cuba 31 years ago, US hasn’t done that and is still continuing with its sanctions which is deplorable,’ said the protesters.
Stating that Cuba is now facing severe crisis in Power, Agriculture, Finance, Banking and Health sectors, the protesters alleged that sanctions have badly affected economic status of the country and people of Cuba are in dire straits. “ Prime Minister Narendra Modi must lodge a strong protest against US sanctions against Cuba. The working class of Mysuru district and India always stand by Cuba,” concluded the protesters.
General Secretary of CITU N.K. Balajirao, G. Jayaram, Mahadeva, Raghavendra and Subramanya participated in the protest.
