Mysuru’s Abdul Wahid Tanveer, fondly called as Tanni by his fans and a member of Team TVS Racing who took part in the PanAfrica Rally 2018, held at Morocco from Sept.8 to 15, has bagged the overall eighth position and has bagged the first place in Enduro Class, one of the stages in the rally which is tough and very competitive.
This bike-riding fanatic, the youngest member of his family full of motocross riders, started racing (Dirt Track) when he was studying in class eight at St. Mathias School in city. Tanveer’s skills have led him to scoop a collection of medals and trophies.
Tanveer said that the rally puts its participants to test throwing them in a mix of fast and sandy stages where riders need to use road-book navigation to find their way in the desert. Tanveer is now getting ready for Dakar 2019 as the discussion is going-on with TVS.
“It was my first PanAfrica Rally and I am thrilled to finish in the top 10. It was a great learning ground for me and I am confident to face my future challenges now. A big thanks to my team as well, for being so supportive and guiding me at every stage in this unknown territory,” Tanveer said.
