Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the removal of Hanuma Dhwaja and the subsequent Police lathi-charge on Hindu activists and villagers at Keragodu in Mandya taluk, the BJP staged a massive demonstration against the Government at Gandhi Square in the heart of the city this morning, as part of a Statewide protest.
The protestors contended that the ruling Congress Government in the State had resorted to vote bank politics and minorities appeasement and the Keragodu incident is a perfect example of this. Raising slogans against the Government, they demanded action against the authorities responsible for the incident and the Police for lathi-charging Hindu activists and villagers. Accusing the authorities of intentionally removing the Hanuma Dhwaja, they alleged that the Government was playing with the sentiments of Hindus.
MLA T.S. Srivatsa, city BJP President and former MLA L. Nagendra, District President L.R. Mahadevaswamy, former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar, State BJP OBC Morcha President Raghu R. Kautilya, Minorities Morcha President Dr. Anil Thomas, former Mayor Shivakumar, party leaders B.P. Manjunath, Hemanth Kumar Gowda, H.G. Giridhar, M.K. Shankar, Su. Murali and others were present.
