Mysore/Mysuru: City’s First Additional CJM Court has sentenced a man to four years besides imposing a fine of Rs. 33,000, after he was found guilty of cheating a woman and assaulting her for questioning him.

The man, who was sentenced, is Mahesh, a resident of Tilaknagar. Mahesh, had got the house of one Nagarathna, a resident of Mandi Mohalla, pledged for Rs. 7 lakh to purchase an agri field and had obtained a total of Rs. 12 lakh.

When Nagarathna questioned Mahesh about it on May 13, 2016, near the Mysuru West Sub-Registrar’s Office, Mahesh had reportedly abused her using foul language and assaulted her, following which Nagarathna had lodged a complaint at Mandi Police Station.

Mandi Police, who had registered a case, conducted investigation and had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge A.G. Shilpa, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found Mahesh guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him to four years rigorous imprisonment besides levying a fine of Rs. 33,000.

The Judge has also ordered Mahesh to return Rs. 12 lakh which he had cheated.
