City docs, medicos take out candle light march against Kolkata rape, murder

Mysore/Mysuru: Hundreds of doctors and medicos took out a candle light procession in the city last evening, condemning the recent incident of rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The procession was taken out jointly under the aegis of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mysuru branch, Mysore Medical College Resident Doctors Association, Karnataka State Government Medical Officers Association, MMC and RI Teachers Association, All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), with Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) medical students of MMC & RI joining them.

The rally was flagged off from K.R. Hospital premises and culminated at J.K. Grounds after passing via Irwin Road.

The rallyists demanded fast paced judicial probe into the incident and stringent punishment to the guilty, besides providing adequate safety to doctors, medical students and the support staff at the college and work place.
