Mysuru: Mysuru city will soon have two new Police Stations — one for Economic Offences and Narcotics, and the other for Cybercrime.
Disclosing this to press persons here yesterday, City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao said that he hoped the two new Police Stations would become functional in a month’s time.
Though the Government had sanctioned additional staff, the existing manpower will be posted at the two new Police Stations for the time being, till the process of recruitment is completed.
Though a Cybercrime Police Station already exists in the city, Rao said that the proposed Station will come under the jurisdiction of the Mysuru City Police handling cases referred by the city Police.
The existing Station, housed in the Jayalakshmipuram Police Station premises, handles cases from Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts also. The dependence of the city Police on this Station, which functions under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), will come down.
Meanwhile, the city Police has decided to provide special security to Dasara 2017. The Commissioner said that before the high-powered committee meets in Bengaluru on July 24 that will be chaired by Chief Minster Siddharamaiah, he would hold a special meeting with Police officers to oversee the security arrangements.
