Mysuru: Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, this morning, launched four Suction cum Jetting Machine vehicles, nine De-silting Machines mounted on Tata Ace vehicles and two Fogging Machines mounted on autos at MCC premises in city.
While the nine Suction cum Jetting machines mounted on six wheeled vehicles were procured at a cost of Rs. 1.4 crore from Chief Minister’s Rs. 100 crore special grant, the nine Tata Ace vehicles with de-silting machines mounted on them were procured at a cost of Rs. 87 lakh from the MCC grant.
Two new fogging machines mounted on old autos were also launched on the occasion.
Mayor Ravikumar, speaking on the occasion said that due to rains, water has been entering underground drainages (UGDs) resulting in the drains getting blocked.
To avoid inconvenience to the residents and public and also for timely repairs, these machines mounted on vehicles have been purchased. There are a total of 13 Suction cum Jetting vehicles in the MCC now, he added.
Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, Corporators K.V. Mallesh, B.V. Manjunath, Ashwini Ananthu, Kempanna, G.S. Jagadeesh and Shoukath Pasha, former Mayor R. Lingappa and the staff of MCC were present.
