Mysuru: Marimallappa PU College student Ancy Jasmine D’Mello’s agony turned into ecstasy, as she emerged District topper after re-totalling. When the results were announced, she had scored 589 marks out of 600 in the Second PU Science stream.
The Principal and teachers including Ancy were sure that she would be among the top five rank holders in the State. But they were taken aback once the results were announced as she did not figure in the top five list.
Ancy had expected more marks in Sanskrit and hence applied for re-totalling. From 96, her marks went up to 98 after re-totalling and this helped her become the District topper.
She had got 99 in Physics, 100 in Chemistry, 98 in Mathematics, 99 in Biology, 97 in English and after re-totalling 98 in Sanskrit with a total of 591. Ancy aims to do Medicine like her elder sister who is in the final year MBBS course in Tumakaru.
According to Ancy, re-totalling took one month and no one in the Board gave proper response. “Stringent action should be taken against those who make mistakes while valuating papers. Only when there is a punishment will the valuators be more careful,” she said.
