Mysuru: The moment Union Minister Piyush Goyal came to know that a city girl had built two toilets for girls in a school in the outskirts of city, he sought her out and felicitated her at the interaction session here yesterday.
Singling out Megha Kochar for her contribution to Swachh Bharat Mission, he said that she was an inspiration to millions of youngsters in the country. “I will personally bring the achievement of Megha to the notice of the Prime Minister. Her contribution of her first earning to build two toilets in a school (AC Convent) near Mysuru is indeed very inspiring and laudable,” he said after felicitating Megha.
Later, Goyal on the way to the airport visited the AC Convent, in Makanahundi village near Mandakalli Airport and spent a few minutes in the school.
Speaking to SOM, Megha, a resident of Ittigegud, said, “I was inspired by the call of PM Narendra Modi for Swachh Bharat. I am a certified Mutual Fund Advisor. I am a B.Com graduate. My father had identified the AC Convent for my initiative. I found out that girls were dropping out of the Convent due to poor toilet facilities. I decided to build two toilets from my yearly earnings. I built it on October 2 last year. The school authorities told me that because of this, they had extended the classes from fourth standard. Now, they had classes from fifth standard to seventh standard.”
Her father Kishore Kumar owns an automobile spare parts shop on Chamaraja Double Road in city.
