The first city college-level Pro Kabaddi League organised by Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, Mysuru, as part of its 40th anniversary, will be held on Jan. 26 and 27 in the college premises on Seshadri Iyer Road in city.
Addressing a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, Principal of the College Dr. S. Marigowda said that 8 teams were participating in the event and franchisees will be its owners. Best players were selected from various colleges of the city through bid system after inviting applications.
A cash prize of Rs. 20,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 will be given for first, second, third and fourth prize winners respectively. Mementos will also be given to the winners.
Dr. Marigowda said that District Minister G.T. Devegowda will inaugurate the event on Jan. 26 at 10.30 am. MLC Marithibbegowda, Zilla Panchayat Member Dinesh and University of Mysore Department of Physical Education faculty Dr. C. Venkatesh will be present. Vidyavardhaka Sangha President Gundappa Gowda will preside.
Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra will distribute prizes to the winners of the league at the valedictory function on Jan. 27 at 6 pm.
Retired Director of Physical Education, University of Mysore Dr. M. Chandrakumar will deliver the valedictory address. Arjuna awardee Kabaddi player Honnappagowda, MCDCC Bank President G.D. Harish Gowda, Corporator K.V. Sridhar will be present.
Prof. H.J. Chandrashekar, Prof. R.Siddaraju and M.V. Prasad were present.
