City MMA athletes win medals

Mysuru: The following MMA athletes of the Academy of Martial Science (AMS), Mysuru, who represented the State at the Activfit Fitness Expo, Indian Open MMA Championships held in Mumbai between Sept. 19 and 21, bagged 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals for Karnataka:

Chintan Ponnanna – Bantam Weight – Gold Medal; Supreeth Srikanta – Feather weight – Bronze; Shreeshan Dharmaveera – Junior welter weight – Silver; Samarth Vikram – Junior Bantam weight (Full amateur rules) – Silver; Manohar Nayaka – Fly weight Division – Bronze; Theeksha Bharuni – Female youth B, 52 kgs Division – Silver; R. Namrata – Female Youth C, 52 kgs Division – Gold; Preetham – Youth A fly weight – Bronze; Yuktha Ravi – Women Bantam weight Division – Gold Medal; D. Prabhudev – Fly weight – Gold; Ravikumar – Feather weight – Bronze; Mohammed Zaid – Junior Welter Weight (Full amateur rules) – Gold; Aryan Raj – Youth A Bantam Weight – Quarter Finalist.

This event played host to more than 300 youths, junior and senior athletes from across the country. The AMS team was a part of 21 athletes’ contingent drawn from various parts of Karnataka. Team AMS played an instrumental role by winning 12 medals to put Karnataka at No. 3 position in the country.

Team AMS is trained by IMMAF certified (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) MMA coaches Kiran, Kavyashree and Samarth Vikram and mentored by Kru. Vikram who is the Founder-Director of AMS, Team India Coach and IMMAF Youth Commission Member.
