City MMA fighters bag medals

The following MMA fighters of the Academy of Martial Science (AMS), representing the State, excelled at the 7th MMA National Championship held in Chattisgarh, Raipur, between May 8 and 12:

Manohar Nayaka – Men Flyweight Division – Gold Medal; Yuktha Ravi – Women Bantam Weight Division – Gold Medal; Ashwin – Male Youth B, 67 kgs Division – Gold Medal; Tanay Shastry – Male Youth D1, 25 kgs Division – Gold Medal; Ayan Ali – Male Youth D2, 35 kgs Division – Gold Medal; Akhil Kumar – Men Straw Weight Division – Silver Medal; Akshatha Shanbhogue – Women Atom Weight Division – Silver Medal; Theeksha Bharuni – Female Youth B, 52 kgs Division – Silver Medal; R. Namrata – Female Youth C, 48 kgs Division – Silver Medal; Ankush Mathad – Male Youth C, 30 kgs Division – Silver Medal; Shreeshan Dharmaveera – Male Youth A, 70 kgs Division – Bronze Medal; Supreeth Srikanta – Men Light Weight Division – Bronze Medal; D. Prabhudev – Men Straw Weight Division – Participation; Ravikumar – Men Feather Weight Division – Participation.

The team was a part of 28 athletes’ contingent drawn from various parts of Karnataka. This event played host to more than 500 youths, junior and senior athletes from across the country.

Team AMS is trained by IMMAF certified (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) MMA coaches Kiran, Kavyashree and Samarth and mentored by Kru Vikram who is the Founder-Director of city’s AMS, Team India Coach and IMMAF Youth Commission Member.
