City NCC cadet bags Gold in R-Day event

Mysore/Mysuru: M.S. Harshitha, a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet belonging to Land Army-1, Karnataka Battalion, has secured Gold Medal in the cultural competition organised on account of 75th Republic Day celebrations at New Delhi.

A 2nd year BA student at SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Harshitha is the daughter of N. Hemalatha, a computer operator at Mysore University and M. Shivamurthy, a businessman, residents of Saraswathipuram.

Dr. Captain M.R. Indrani, a Professor in English and Associate NCC Officer, Mahajana College and Srinidhini, Office Commanding Lieutenant Colonel, guided Harshitha throughout her rigorous training levels.

Harshitha, a multi-talented student since her childhood, has won several District-level and State-level competitions in sports, cultural events including Dasara and Pratibha Karanji.

She is practicing Bharatanatyam and Karate since the age of six and has passed Senior Exam conducted by Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB). As a karateka, she took part in Open Tournament at Calicut, Kerala and gave a demo on tiles breaking at the age of 13. She was in Class 8, when she won two Silver Medals in Kumite and Kata at International Martial Arts.
