Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Patrika Vitharakara Dinacharane’ was celebrated by newspaper distributors of city opposite V.V. Puram Traffic Police Station in Vontikoppal here this morning.
Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda inaugurated the celebrations by cutting a cake.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that newspaper distributors and agents play a very vital role in keeping the people informed of the latest developments through distribution of newspapers at the doorsteps of subscribers. He said that he would personally give Rs. 25,000 as financial assistance to senior newspaper distributor Puttaswamy, who is undergoing dialysis.
Wishing the newspaper distributors and agents on the occasion, the MLA said that he was always willing to come to their aid.
Newspaper Circulation Managers, Executives, distributors, agents and others were present.
Meanwhile, a State-level programme marking Newspaper Distributors Day was organised under the aegis of Karnataka Rajya Patrika Vitharakara Okkuta, an umbrella Organisation of all newspaper distributors in Karnataka, at Tumakuru today.
