Mysuru: Poornima Jayakrishna, Dr. Kiranmayee Muralidhar, Dr. Raghavi Karanam and Nagalambika of city-based NGO, Public Health Research Institute of India (PHRII), Mysuru, presented their work on HPV vaccination at the 36th International Papillomavirus Conference held at Edinburgh, Scotland, UK recently.
A total of five posters were presented. Poornima and Dr. Raghavi were awarded full scholarship from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the conference. They engaged in interactive discussions and began planning their future goals for Mysuru district, aligning with World Health Organisation’s strategies for eliminating cervical cancer.
PHRII recently launched the Mysuru Consortium against Cervical Cancer and aim to join forces with local partners to improve women’s health in the region. This will begin with establishment of a Cervical Cancer Specialty Centre in January 2025.
