‘City second highest exporter in State’

The Industries Department has brought in several schemes for new industrialists like SC, ST subsidy, Export subsidy, investment subsidy and ETP subsidy. The Government has announced two major schemes. In the coming four years an investment of Rs.5,000 crore to attract ICB (Integrated Circuit Board) and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) clusters will be set up.— D.K. Mysuru: The city is the second highest exporter of goods in the State after the capital Bengaluru, said District Industries Centre (DIC) Joint Director D.K. Lingaraju.

He was speaking at the six-day Export Management Training programme organised jointly by Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC), Bengaluru, District Industries Centre, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Mysore Industries Association (MIA) for industrial traders and prospective exporters, at Institution of Engineers on JLB Road here on Monday.

Today we are in a situation where we have to import a small chip from China and Vietnam at the international-level. However, as we have to reach a level where we reduce the import by becoming self-sufficient, we have announced that we are in ‘competition with China.’ Hence, nine clusters have been set up throughout Karnataka and among them Mysuru is gearing up fast to implement the cluster, he said.

In order to see that all products are available under one roof for electronic industries, the Government is trying to attract investors and for that 500 acres of land has been identified. Here there will be common facilities like packing material store, raw material store, quality standard checking and other facilities that will come up under one roof. Besides, everyone will learn                                                                                           what is an industry and how to participate in it and also what technology should be used by SSLC and ITI pass people, Joint Director Lingaraju added.
