City skater Kalpana Kuttappa among silver-winning Indian Relay Team

City student Mukkattira Kalpana Kuttappa was part of the Indian Junior Women 3,000m Relay Team which bagged 2nd place in the 19th Asian Roller Skating Championships held at Beidaihe, China, recently.

The Relay Team of India was represented by Heeral Sadhu from Delhi, Kalpana Kuttappa from Mysuru and Karthika Jagadeeshwaran from Tamil Nadu. While Korea won gold medal, China settled for bronze medal in the Championships.

Kalpana, a first year degree student of Christ College, Mysuru, is the daughter of M.S. Ravi and T.K. Swathi couple, residents of Mahadeshwara Layout. Kalpana is being trained under Ekalavya awardee Prateek Raja.

Having started her skating career at the age of four, Kalpana has excelled in State and National-level Skating competitions and has bagged several medals including 50 gold.

She was also part of the 16-member Indian team which took part in the World Speed Skating Championship 2023 held in Vicenza, Italy, recently. She had represented India in the World Skate Games 2022 held in Argentina as well.
