City students secure top spots in Science stories contest

Mysuru: Two Science stories written by Research Fellows from the Department of Pharmacology, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, have been selected for the Nationwide top 100 popular Science stories contest under the Ph.D category of “Augmenting writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR)” scheme conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

About 3,000 research and post-doc entries were received for the contest. Among them the city students have emerged within the top 100 spot.     

Anjali Raj of Department of Science and Technology (DST) Inspire Fellow grabbed 31st spot for her story titled “The Smoke That Kills Smell and Fade Memories” while K. Nabeel, an Indian Council of Medical Research and Senior Research Fellow (ICMR SRF) secured 87th position for his story “Diabetes and Absent-Mindedness.”

Both the Research Fellows are pursuing their Ph.D under the guidance of Dr. S.N. Manjula, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru.
