Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, is organising a three-day 14th Akhila Karnataka Vijnana Sammelana (Science Conference) from Sept. 8 to 10. It is for the first time that a State-level Science Conference is being organised in Mysuru.
The Conference, which is being organised every year at different places across the State, is shedding light on the latest developments in the field of Science. For the first time, a resolution will be adopted at the end of the Conference to be held in the city.
Giving details about the event at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city on Saturday, Parishat Member and Conference State Co-ordinator A.N. Mahesh said that Mysuru unit of the Vijnana Parishat has taken the responsibility of hosting the State-level Conference, which will be held at the Convocation Hall of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).
The Conference will be jointly organised by the Karnataka State Department of Science and Technology, Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS), Mysuru District Administration, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat (ZP), University of Mysore (UoM) and KSOU, he added.
Parishat Members, Science enthusiasts, Scientists, Educationists and Communication experts will discuss the present developments in Science, simplify the scientific information in a manner which can be understood by a common man.
The Conference will play an important role in this activity. More than 1,000 people are expected to participate in the Conference. There will be 8 sessions, 17 lectures in the Conference and experts and achievers in the field of Science will deliver the lectures.
“For the first time in the history of the Vijnana Sammelana, Padma Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman, has been chosen as Sammelana President,” explained Mahesh.
District in-Charge Minister S.T. Somashekar will inaugurate the Conference on Sept. 8 at 10 am and MLA L. Nagendra will preside.
There will be two sessions on the first day, four on second day and two sessions on the last day. In addition, Book Exhibition and scientific activities are also being organised, he said.
Sessions on topics like Vijnana Shikshana – Visheshavagi Bhouta Vijnana Olagondante Kelavu Anubhavagalu, Aanandakara Anukana, Shantigagi Vijnana, Vijnana Mattu Moodanambikegalu, Sagaradalli Plastic Malinya, Vaividya – Jeeva Jagattina Jeevala, will be held at the Conference.
The valedictory function will be held on Sept. 10 at 2 pm. State Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan will release a souvenir on the occasion.
Dr. H. Narasimhaiah Award presentation
Four achievers in the field of Science will be conferred with ‘Dr. H. Narasimhaiah Award.’
One each from the four Revenue Divisions of the State will be selected for the award.
Accordingly, Parishat Executive Committee Member Srimati Hariprasad has been selected for the award from Mysuru Division and selection of other three awardees from three other Divisions is in progress.
Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Siddharamaiah will confer the Awards at the ceremony.
