Mysuru: Mysore District Athletic Association, under the aegis of Karnataka Athletics Association, Bengaluru and in association with Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), will be conducting a 4-day Karnataka State Inter-District Junior and U-23 Athletic Meet – 2024 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad from Sept. 14. Mysuru will be hosting the event after a gap of 29 years.
The Meet will be inaugurated at 3.30 pm on Sept. 14. District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will preside. Karnataka Athletics Association President and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar and Olympian Machettira Raju Poovamma will be the guests of honour. Earlier at 7.45 am, a relay of the Sports Torch will be flagged-off from Chamundi Hill Temple by MLA G.T. Devegowda and former MLA S.R. Mahesh. The relay will pass through Shaktidhama, Gun House, Varaha Gate of Mysore Palace, Kote Maramma Temple, Hardinge Circle, F.K. Irani Circle, Sahukar Chennaiah Circle, Nimbuja Devi Temple, before reaching the Chamundi Vihar Stadium.
A total of 2,000 athletes from 31 districts will be taking part in a total of 136 competitions during the four-day event. About 500 technical officials will be overseeing various events. Valedictory will be held on Sept. 17 at 4 pm.
