City Top Cop to inaugurate self-defense karate on June 23

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Karate Association will be conducting a self-defense karate programme on June 23 at University of Mysore Hockey Grounds (Sports Pavilion), said Association President Shivdas.

Addressing the mediapersons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan, he said that City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth would inaugurate the event at 8 am.

International athlete M. Yogendra, Department of Physical Education, UoM, Director Dr. Venkatesh  and Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak will be the chief guests. Hon. President of Mysore Karate Association and former MLC C.S. Arun Machaiah will preside.

More than 1,500 karatekas from different karate schools are expected to participate in the event being organised to mark the World Karate Day celebrations, he said.

Association Vice-President N. Shankar, Sosale Siddaraju, Secretary Deepak Kumar, Joint Secretary Sunil Kumar and Bharathi were present at the press meet.
