Mysuru, Oct. 19 (KS)- A fraudster, who befriended a youth through Facebook has cheated him of several lakhs of rupees under the guise of online trading.
The victim, a resident of N.R. Mohalla in city, was lured into the scam after developing trust through the social media connection. About four months ago, the fraudster befriended the youth on Facebook and pressurised the youth to invest in online trading.
Following constant pressure from the fraudster for two months, the youth clicked on the website link sent by the fraudster, downloaded a mobile phone app and uploaded his PAN Card, Aadhaar Card and other personal details and created his user ID and password.
Later, the youth invested a total of Rs. 17,63,520 in phases following which the app showed that he had earned high returns for his investment.
Happy with it, the youth continued to invest and when he found out that he was unable to withdraw the money, he came to know that he was cheated and lodged a complaint at CEN Police Station.
