M.K. Sanjay Kumar, a city-based kick-boxer has represented India in the Asian Kick-boxing championship and has won a bronze medal. He is a resident of Kuvempunagar.
The championship was held in Turkmenistan between Apr. 24 and 30 where Sanjay faced kick-boxers from Korea, Iran, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Jordan. He lost by just one point at the semi-final with a contender from Macau. With the bronze win, Sanjay has been selected to represent the country in the World Championship to be held in Italy in September.
Twenty-one-year-old Sanjay is pursuing his Computer Science Engineering at Maharaja Institute of Technology and has been trained by Academy of Self Defense. He is the son of S.K. Kumar and Bhagya. Sanjay has earlier won four gold medals and one bronze medal in State-level kick-boxing championship and one bronze medal in National championship.
