City’s Girish held by Manush Shah

Mysuru lad IM Girish A. Koushik was held to a draw by Manush Shah in the fifth round of IIFL Wealth 3rd Mumbai International Chess tournament being held at Mount Litera School, Bandra (E), Mumbai from Dec. 30 to Jan. 7.

Girish Koushik, after five rounds, has secured 3.5 points and is placed 66th in the rankings. In the first round, he scored a good win over P. Bala Kannamma. In the second round, he suffered a loss to WIM Srija Seshadri. In the third round, Girish beat Patil Harshlal and in the fourth round beat Jeeth Atharva.

GM Deepan Chakravarthy leads with 5 points from five rounds. He is followed by GM David Alberto (ItA), GM Tukhaev Aden (Ukr), FM V.S. Rathanvel and GM Rozum Ivan (Rus) with 4.5 points and are placed from second to fifth in the rankings.
