Sir,
The standard age for admission to Class 1 is six years, with children required to be six years of age by May 31 of the academic year.
As per CBSE norms and NEP 2020, children must be aged six on or before May 31 at the time of admission.
The Karnataka Government has relaxed the minimum age limit from six years to five years and five months in all State curriculum schools for the academic year 2025-26.
I request the State Government and the Education Department to further relax the age limit by 15 days to one month for children born on June 1 or June 2. Otherwise, they will lose an entire academic year for the sake of just one or two days.
We request the Chief Minister and the Minister concerned to consider relaxing the age limit by 15 days for the benefit of such children.
It is hoped that parents of these children will receive a positive response from the Government in the interest of their children’s future.
