Mysore/Mysuru: Surabhi Ganakalamandira, Gokulam, Mysuru, is conducting a Karnatak classical music lecture-cum-demonstration titled ‘Panchalinga Darshana – Ondu Pradakshine’ (Muthuswamy Dikshitar) at 10.30 am on Sunday (June 9) at Rasavrinda, 1095, Devaparthiva Road, Chamarajapuram, Mysuru.
The event will be conducted by Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, assisted by Vidu. R. Nithyashree and Vidu Akshatha Bhat on rendition of the kritis and accompanied by Vid. P.S. Sridhar on mridanga.
Muthuswamy Dikshitar has composed many group kritis called as ‘samudaya kritis’. The ‘Panchalinga kritis’ are one among them and based on five forms of Lord Shiva; and are composed respectively at the temples of Chidambaram, Kalahasti, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram and Jambukesvaram, representing the Panchabhuthas or the five elements namely, akasha, air, fire, earth and water respectively.
These majestic kritis are scholarly composed with all aesthetic embellishments and rich in technical details which are the highlights of Muthuswamy Dikshitar.
