Mysuru: The classroom instruction needs to be based on the constructivist approach to make students understand the subject matter better, said Dr. N. N. Prahallada, former Faculty,  Regional Institute of Education, RIE, NCERT, Mysuru while orienting teachers of VVS BMSri Educational Institute, Kuvempunagar, on the theme “Teaching Styles” recently.

Dr. Prahallada said the prime responsibility of every teacher is to help every child to comprehend the subject matter with independent thinking. In the constructivist approach, teachers must encourage students to participate in classroom discussion and contribute for the understanding of the concept.  Professors like Chamski, Vygotsky, Novo and others have done a lot of work on constructivism.

He further said that Flipped Classroom instruction is known as Inverted Classroom where teachers will ask the students to prepare themselves the lesson well the previous day and come to the class the next day so that teaching-learning becomes easy for students.

N. Ramesh Principal, CBSE School section,  Swaroopa Head Mistress, State School, and Uma Anniah,  Administrator VVS BMSri Institute were present.
