Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep has asked the Managers of Banks to shut down the ATMs if they cannot provide security or if they have non-functioning CCTVs.
Addressing a meeting of various Bank Managers, earlier in the day yesterday, he said that wherever the ATMs do not have security guards or the CCTVs are not working, such ATMs should be closed.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe said that there was a problem in a few ATMs because of their locations which were attached to homes. In such places the security was also assigned to the owners of the houses. Hence, there is laxity in the security. He asked the Bank officials to see that only approved security agencies should be given contract to man the ATMs.
He also assured the bankers to increase beat patrolling in the branches with ATMs and also where the currency chests are located. A Manager from SBI, T. Narasipur branch complained that the hotline was not working for more than a year. DC Randeep immediately called the BSNL to see that the problem is set right.
Fire fighting: The Fire fighting officials from the Fire Station Department assured of training the Bank Officers in fire fighting techniques.
Crop Insurance: The DC asked the officials to set right the technical glitches in the PM Crop Insurance Scheme as most of the farmers were hesitating to insure their crops because of the problems.
Lead Bank Manager K.N. Shivalingaiah and other Bank Managers were present.
