Mysore/Mysuru: C. Narayanagowda, President of Mysore District Hotel Owners’ Association, has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to rollback the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices.
The Association argued that the increase will significantly raise the transportation costs of groceries, rice, pulses, fruits, vegetables, milk, and other essential items, making it difficult for businesses and individuals to make a living.
Narayanagowda highlighted those additional financial burdens such as stamp duty, excise duty, property tax, vehicle registration fees, and increased wages and salaries have compounded the issue.
The trade licence fee has also seen a 20 percent increase from April 1, 2024. The Association expressed concern that the excessive rise in flower and vegetable prices is making it increasingly challenging to run a business. Bus fares are also expected to rise, adding to the financial strain on the people of Mysuru.
The Association particularly noted the impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on every purchased item, which further complicates business operations. Narayanagowda urged the Chief Minister to reconsider these hikes and alleviate the financial burden.
