Mysuru: Even as there seems to be no end for early settlement of Mahadayi waters sharing row, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah held a meeting with Mahadayi agitators at the Government Guest House in Nazarbad here last night.
More than 60 agitators led by Mahadayi Action Committee leader Veeresh Sobaradamath, urged the CM to lead an all party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking an end to the over three-decade row between Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra over sharing Mahadayi waters.
Declaring that the agitators themselves will stage a demonstration at New Delhi’s Jantar-Mantar if there was delay in getting the PM’s appointment, Sobaradamath appealed the CM to himself launch the agitation in Delhi.
Pointing out that the then AICC President Sonia Gandhi’s statement had proved a hurdle in resolving the row when the UPA Government was in power at the Centre, he appealed the new AICC President Rahul Gandhi to send the right message to the State on Mahadayi row.
Later speaking to press persons, Siddharamaiah said that he would lead an all party delegation to Delhi either in the last week of January or in the first week of February.
Karnataka Bandh on Jan. 25
