Slams Union Government on IT raids in non-BJP ruled States; Says Yeddyurappa has no moral right to speak on corruption
“It is like a devil chanting Bhagavad Gita when Yeddyurappa, who went to jail and involved in many corruption cases, levels false and fabricated allegations against others,” charged Chief Minister Siddharamaiah here this morning.
Addressing media persons on his arrival at Mandakalli Airport on the outskirts of the city at around 11.10 am, Siddharamaiah categorically dismissed allegations levelled by Yeddyurappa that he (Siddharamaih) had paid Rs. 1,000 crore to Congress leaders in Delhi to retain his CM post and branded Yeddyurappa as a man with no moral values and respect for other’s integrity.
He also said: “If only the BJP was not in power at the Centre, Yeddyurappa would have already been in a jail.”
Accusing the Narendra Modi-led BJP Government of indulging in forcing the Income Tax Department to conduct raids on officials and elected representatives in non-BJP ruled States in the garb of unearthing black money, he asked “Are there no black money hoarders in Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan which are ruled by the BJP.”
On Demonetisation: Sparing no words, Siddharamaiah accused the Narendra Modi Government of demonetising high value currency notes on Nov.8 saying that the move was aimed at diverting public attention on the failures of the Modi Government and asked for details on action taken against any black money hoarders in the country since the demonetisation.
Taking a jibe at PM Modi’s recent statement at an election rally in a poll-bound State that Rs. 150 crore illegal money had been found at the Belagavi residence of Minister Ramesh Jarakiholi during an IT raid, the CM said that Chief Secretary of the IT Department, in reply to a letter, had written to him that details on the raid could not be provided at this stage as the case was under investigation. With this being the case, how dare Modi makes a statement like this?, he fumed.
Accusing the Union Government of failing to release funds for drought relief works in the State, the Chief Minister alleged that the Union Government which sanctioned Rs. 1,782 crore against the requested Rs. 4,700 crore had so far not released any funds.
PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar, DC D. Randeep, Assistant Commissioner C.L. Ananda, Tahsildar Ramesh Babu and Chairpersons of some State-run Boards and Corporations were among those present.
