CM welcomes SC order on inner reservation

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has welcomed the Supreme Court order upholding the States’ authority for implementation of inner reservation for the most backward among SC/ST communities.

In a text posted on X (formerly Twitter), Siddaramaiah said that the main hurdle in the implementation of inner reservation for the most backward among SC/ST communities  has been cleared following the Supreme Court order. He would discuss the controversial creamy layer issue and other issues with his Cabinet colleagues from the SC/ST community and legal experts on the implementation of the SC order.

“The Congress is committed for providing inner reservation among SC/ST communities. The Party had also promised the implementation of the recommendations of Justice A.J. Sadashiva Commission Report on inner reservation, in its manifesto for last year’s Assembly polls. The Government will thoroughly study the Justice Sadashiva Commission Report, following which the modalities for the implementation of the Report will be discussed and finalised,” he said adding that the Government will come up with a clear decision in this regard soon.
